In the summer of 2006, Patrick bicycled 2,800 miles alone across Laos, Cambodia, and Burma (Myanmar). The original goal of the trip was to raise enough money, $15,500, to construct one primary school in Laos in conjunction with the organization Room to Read. However, the trip exceeded expectations in many ways. Over $22,500 was raised, enough for a primary school and library in Laos as well as two K-12 scholarships for girls in Cambodia. During the ride, Patrick spoke with hundreds of locals, spent many nights in monasteries and small villages, and visited numerous development organizations. He was tailed by a government official in Burma, the guest of honor at a Buddhist ceremony in a village in Laos, completed a 10-day silent meditation retreat in Cambodia, and made it to places where few foreigners ever venture.

Patrick has been featured in the Washington Post, the Providence Journal, and the Sunday Boston Globe. In addition, he has appeared on NPR, Radio Free Asia, and ABC News. Over the past two years, Patrick has spoken at over 65 schools and universities about global service, the conflict in Burma, and social entrepreneurship.

Patrick graduated from Brown University in May 2008. Patrick is currently a board member of the US Campaign for Burma, a recruitment adviser to Global Citizen Year, and a member of the Steering Committee for the Brown University Social Entrepreneurship Network. This year, Patrick will travel through the US, Europe, and Asia speaking at high schools and universities.
