Room to Read
Room to Read is an award winning non-profit that works on education development throughout Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Started by former Microsoft Executive, John Wood, in 2000, Room to Read has since built 765 schools, established 7,040 libraries and provided nearly 7,000 girls with long term scholarships, among other achievements.
Room to Read has been awarded a number of sought after awards in the non-profit world including: The Fast Company/Monitor Group Social Capitalist Award, the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, and the Sand Hill Group Foundation's Social Entrepreneurship Award.
Room to Read has been featured in many prestigious newspapers, magazines, websites, and television shows, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Fortune, Forbes, Business Week, the International Herald Tribune, TIME Magazine, Newsweek, the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Town and Country, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Bloomberg, CNN, and PBS.
