| Global Citizen Year
Global Citizen Year (GCY) is working to create a generation of globally conscious Americans dedicated to ending world poverty. To accomplish this goal, GCY sends recent American high school graduates on a "bridge year" to volunteer in the developing world.
Global Citizen Year participants are carefully selected. Once selected they begin an intensive 9 month program that includes 6 months of volunteering at a non-profit in a rural community in a developing country. Fellows then "bring their project home" by doing a capstone project in the US that connects their project abroad to their local community.
Founder Abby Falik has won a number of awards including the prestigious Draper Richards Award and the Mind Trust Fellowship. She has been selected as a Rainer Arnhold Fellow and a Pop!Tech Social Innovation Fellow.
