Global Citizen Year Through an innovative, cross-sector collaboration, Global Citizen Year (GCY) will create opportunities for thousands of young Americans from diverse backgrounds to engage in a transformative year of global service between high school and college. Each year, we will recruit, train and support a diverse corps of emerging leaders to serve as apprentices with development organizations in Asia, Africa and Latin America. By providing students with holistic training and support, throughout their term of service, GCY will ensure that students develop the civic savvy and global fluencies they need to approach life with perspective, purpose and passion. Over time, as our fellows become influential agents of change, the world will benefit from a new generation of social innovators who have the insight and conviction needed to combat poverty and inequity in communities at home and around the world.
